Camino Portuguese

Your tour commences in colourful Porto, Portugal’s second city and the gateway to the Douro region, home of Port wine. Follow the Atlantic Coast discovering cultural and natural attractions along the route. There are beautiful beach resorts and small towns that give a glimpse of Portuguese culture and life.

Explore the rugged cliff lined Portuguese coastline, with its hidden coves, curiously- shaped rocks and amazing colours known as the Algarve. Starting from the Spanish border, cycle along the sea in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, a lagoon system that extends 60 km, then turn inland into rural Algarve.

Portugal, like its neighbour Spain, is a land of wonderful contrasts. Classified a Mediterranean country, mostly for its customs, heritage and passion for the marine environment, it´s truly distinct and surprisingly global – on account of its historic ties with Asia, India, Africa and South America.

The Atlantic Portuguese Way between Porto and Santiago de Compostela is often overlooked, and hence much quieter. It offers a wealth of history and delightful landscapes to discover.
