Croatian Odyssey - Islands, Bays & Ancient Towns of Central Dalmatia

 

On this trip you visit two national parks and the islands of Central Dalmatia.
Croatia has a beautiful and well-indented coast with thousands of islands, reefs and bays. Numerous romantic ruins, charming hills, countless natural beauties and phenomena are waiting to be discovered. Spend a week cruising between the mainland and the sea spending your days cycling. You visit two national parks and the islands of Central Dalmatia. Highlights include UNESCO World Heritage site of Trogir’s Old Town, Primosten, Sibenik with its famous cathedral, Zadar, National Parks Krka-Waterfalls and Kornati Islands. You cycle off after a hearty breakfast. At midday meet the ship at a harbour for lunch. In the evening the ship will be waiting in the next harbour. Enjoy dinner as the sun sets, followed by a stroll through an historic harbour town. Good cuisine, helpful crew and knowledgeable tour guides will ensure a memorable holiday.

 

Your Journey

Day 1 (Saturday) Trogir – Rogoznica:
Boarding in the picturesque port of Trogir from 2.00 pm. At 3pm we cruise to Rogoznica for our first night.

Day 2 Rogoznica - Vodice - Slanica - Nature Park Telašćica (27 km):
Sail to Vodice, then cycle to Murter Island that is connected to the mainland by the lift bridge at Tisno. Join the boat in the north west of the island and sail to the Island of Dugi Otok via Kornati National Park to Telašćica Nature Park. Hike to the impressive white cliffs, the night is spent in the peaceful setting of the Telascica Nature Park.

Day 3 Island of Dugi Otok - Zadar (48 km)
Cycle from Telascica Nature Park on the almost traffic-free island of Dugi Otok. Rejoin the boat bound for Zadar and enjoy a guided walk through this 3000 year old historical city!

Day 4 Zadar - Islands of Ugljan and Pasman - Vodice (33 km):
In the morning the boat crosses to Preko on the island of Ugljan. Ride to Tkon on the island of Pasman - the islands being connect by a bridge. Cross over to the popular Dalmatian holiday destination of Vodice for the night.

Day 5 Vodice - Skradin - Krka Waterfalls (35 km):
Today’s bike tour leads us from Vodice along quiet roads and through quiet villages of the Dalmatian hinterland to the beautiful city of Skradin at the foot of the Krka Canyon. In the afternoon we take a small boat to the Krka National Park to explore the unique Krka Waterfalls.  Overnight Skradin.

Day 6 Skradins - Sibenik - Primosten
During breakfast the boat departs the port of Skradin and makes its way down the Krka River back towards the sea and the city of Sibenik  Visit the famous cathedral and explore the old town. Later cruise to Primosten for overnight.

Day 7 Primosten - Trogir (45km)
Cycle through the hinterland passing small villages all the way to Trogir. There is enough time to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town. Celebrate in the evening with the crew and fellow traveller's.

Day 8 Disembark in Trogir:
Tour ends after breakfast by 9.00 am.

Terrain

Basic level of fitness is required. The daily routes, of 15-48 km, cover hilly terrain and can be completed without time constraints. There are some steep climbs that can reach 200 - 500 metres. The roads are mostly asphalted and there is little traffic.

Mountain Biking - Mountainous stages of 32 – 55 km and 200 – 900m of elevation per day. The terrain is very diverse as the islands are different from one another, hilly to mountainous with some steep ascents. It requires good physical condition.

Meals

4 days with full board (3 meals) and 3 days half board (2 meals).
