This journey takes you to the Cyclade Islands of Amorgos, Naxos and Paros, as well as the Dodecanese islands of Kalymnos, Astypalaia and Kos where white houses with blue windows and labyrinthine lanes determine the architectural character of these islands. Jagged coasts, turquoise blue sea and secret coves invite you to explore.
Your JourneyDay 1: Saturday, Bodrum – Kalymnos Island Arrive Bodrum, Turkey and board your vessel for a 4.00 pm departure. Day 2: Sunday - Kalymnos Island – Amorgos Island Cycle from the harbour of Pothia, a town which thrived in the past off the local sponge trade, to Kalymnos on the other side of the island. Cruise to Amorgos. Day 3: Monday - Amorgos Island The island of Amorgos is picture perfect in white and blue. Cycle from Ormos Aigiali across the island to Katapola. Pass the island capital, Chora, along the way, whose winding streets and pretty cafes beckon a visit. In the afternoon cross over to Naxos by boat. The sunset at the Apollo Temple in the town of Naxos is legendary. Day 4: Tuesday – Naxos Island Cycle through the untouched mountain landscape around the island of Naxos. On the way, visit the beautifully located sanctuary of Demeter, the Greek goddess of harvest and agriculture, a wonderful example of classical Greek architecture. Cross to the island of Paros and the picturesque town of Naoussa. Day 5: Wednesday - Paros and Astypalaia Island Cycle from Naoussa to the island capital, Parikia, to visit the famous Panagia Ekatontapyliani, the Church of 100 Doors. Continue across Paros Island to the small port of Piso Livadi to sail across to Astypalaia. Day 6: Thursday - Astypalaia Island Unspoiled nature, white villages and the surrounding deep blue sea characterize this lovely island. Today's bike tour takes you from the main town of Chora, with its fortress towering high above the village, to Analipsi from where you sail to Kos. Day 7: Kos island to Asklipieion or to Embros Thermal Springs Cycle to famous Asklepion which was home to Hyppocrates, father of modern day medicine. For a longer ride there is the option of the Embros Thermal Springs, which invite for a relaxing soak. Sail back to Bodrum fr a cheerful evening farewell. Day 8 Bodrum: Disembarkation is after breakfast, around 9am. TerrainEnergetic – hilly and mountainous terrain with some extended climbs. E bikes are available. |
