Turkey - Bodrum & The Bay of Gokova

The Gulf of Gökova, stretching between the historic city of Bodrum and the extremely attractive Datça-Peninsula, is a scenic gem - a highlight among our cycling tours in Turkey. Completely spared from mass tourism, you explore by bike and boat untamed nature with fantastic panoramas, small harbours, wonderfully clear waters and historical highlights.
Your JourneyDay 1: Arrive Bodrum and board your traditional gullet at 2.00 pm. Day 2 Bodrum – Yalıҁiftlik Start the day with a guided city tour by bike visiting the imposing St. Peter's fortress, and the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, once one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Afterwards, bike to Kızılağaç, known for its local bazaar. Continue to Yalıҁiftlik where there is a beautiful beach. Day 3 Yalıҁiftlik - Mazı – Akbük From Yalıҁiftlik, bike through the scenic natural landscapes of the hinterland and finally back to the coast to Mazı. Here the boat awaits you for lunch and you can relax on board during the two and a half hours crossing to Akbük, a charming little harbor. Day 4 Akbük – Akyaka A shuttle service takes you from Akbük to the charming mountain village of Sarnıçköy to start biking. At the village of Akyaka, stop to view the ancient rock tombs. This picturesque village is characterized by pseudo-Seljuk-Ottoman architecture with significant wooden elements, unique to Turkey. Return to Akyaka for overnight. Day 5 Akyaka – Ҁamlı Enjoy a circuit ride inland with an abundance of nature and solitude. Afterwards, head to picturesque Ҁamlı bay, for a refreshing swim. Day 6 Ҁamlı – English Bay - Yedi Adalar Today's bike tour takes you through small villages and fragrant pine forests to picturesque English Bay for a swim stop. Then enjoy a one-and-a-half-hour cruise by boat to Yedi Adalar (Seven Islands). Day 7 Yedi Adalar - Kormen - Knidos Cross to Körmen on the Datça Peninsula. An ascent by bike leads you to a height of 450 m/1.480 ft, for a beautiful view over the Greek islands Nissyros, Tilos and Rhodes. Enjoy the descent back down to the sea then follow a path along a scenic coastal road before entering the suburban outskirts of Knidos. Visit the impressive archaeological site. Day 8 Friday, Knidos - Bodrum After breakfast on board, enjoy the sea air during the last crossing to Bodrum where your tour ends. TerrainEnergetic – biking hilly mountainous terrain mostly on asphalted roads with some extended climbs. Daily rides are between 16 – 40 km. Electric bikes available. |
