An enchanting bike tour along the German/Austrian Danube mostly with a helpful tail wind behind, you will cycle along lush green river banks, through small, dreamy villages in the impressive Danube landscapes. Discover the natural wonder of the “Great Loop” (a swift 180º turn!) and immerse yourself in the Wachau with its vineyard terraces and enchanted castles and monasteries. Then Vienna – an abundance of sights and Bratislava’s pretty Old Town.

Day 1 Arrive Passau:
Boarding is at 5 pm. Passau is the “city of three rivers”. Visit the world’s largest church organ in the cathedral, and enjoy the easy atmosphere of a typical Bavarian beer garden. Cast off and cruise the Danube valley.
Day 2 Mauthausen – Grein (approx. 35 km):
Cycle a pretty meadow landscape to the medieval village and former concentration camp at Mauthausen and the Celtic village of Mitterkirchen. The alternative route, Clam Castle, is through the beautiful back country of the "Strudengau" which is slightly hilly. Arrive Grein, with its mighty castle.
Day 3: Devin – Bratislava (approx. 18-49km)
From Devin follow the former ‘Iron Curtain’, cross the former border and reach the imposing Baroque Palace of Hof. Continue to Bratislava located on the slopes of the Little Carpathians. Explore the hidden alleyways and sights of Bratislava on an optional city tour.
Day 4 Vienna:
Optional city tour by bike or bus to see Vienna’s famous landmarks: the imperial Hofburg, St. Stephens Cathedral, the gorgeous ‘Ring’-boulevard and the State Opera House, the Burgtheater and town hall and the colourful "Hundertwasserhaus". Possibility to attend a concert in the evening.
Day 5 Wachau/Krems – Melk (approx. 33 km)
Bike amidst small dreamy towns, apricot trees, vineyards, castles, monasteries and ruins, this hilly landscape enchants everybody. Stop at the Baroque town of Durnstein then on to the Wachau wine area for an optional wine-tasting.
Day 6 Melk – Grein, (approx. 50 km)
Time in the morning to visit the gorgeous Baroque Benedictine monastery of Melk. Start cycling in the wide valleys of the Nibelungenau and follow the Danube into the Strudengau. Overnight in Grein.
Day 7 Great Danube Loop | Obermühl - Engelhartszell (approx. 28-43 km)
Pass many picturesque villages in the Danube Valley. Climbing the small walking trail to the lookout high above the Danube Loop for breathtaking views of the Danube Valley is a highlight. Refresh yourself with the special cordials at the Trappist monastery at Engelszell, your day’s destination.
Day 8 Return to Passau:
Disembark at 9.30 am.
Easy - the cycle route is completely flat, and ideal for bikers with less experience, leisure cyclists and children.
